We have a core value of creating and offering sacred space for gathering, encountering God, and being replenished and equipped for service.   Our historic corner of 7th Street and Southern Avenue has long been a community center of our South Mountain neighborhood.   True to that heritage, we see South Mountain Community Church as a place of gathering, fellowship, spiritual growth and connection in the midst of the great diversity of population in our neighborhood.

Membership is based on baptism.  If you have not been baptized, we invite you to celebrate God’s love for you through this wonderful sacrament.  If you have previously been baptized, we invite you to affirm your baptism and celebrate our unity in Christ. 

Our congregation offers the opportunity to belong to a group of people, many of whom have long-time residential and family affiliation in our neighborhood, plus some that are new to the community and are putting down roots here. 

• Our members and friends are highly knowledgeable and experienced in knowing Phoenix as a wonderful place of living, working, and learning.  For the newcomer to our area, we can offer supportive relationships in order to make Phoenix feel like home!

• Our weekly Sunday worship at 9 a.m. and following fellowship is our key time to connect with each other, and spiritually ground ourselves for the week.  We are an English-speaking congregation, with a heart, openness, and sense of responsibility to the global community.

• We have a lunch social  on the second Friday of every month at 11 a.m. at a local restaurant.   The location changes from month to month.  

• For those who would like to explore membership, we periodically hold flexible classes.  We also offer one-to-one conversations.
