We Are a Place to Become!
As a congregation who believes that God is still speaking…through open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we strive to be a place where one is encouraged and empowered to grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically to become the best people of God we can be.
- Pastor Barb offers opportunities for spiritual retreating and direction. She is always interested in engaging in conversations to explore beliefs, scripture interpretation, and theology.
- Pastor Rich offers consultation with families. He is always interested in engaging in conversations that encourage children to explore their faith. You may contact him at southmountainchurch(at)cox.com
- Our weekly Bible Study, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday mornings, in Pastor Barb's office in the Church House, discusses the scripture passages to be preached on the following Sunday. This helps fill out more meaning and reflection in preparation and anticipation of Sunday worship.
- On Wednesday evenings, 7 p.m. we hold a small "Prayer and Reflection" time in the Church House living room. It's a wonderful small-group sharing time with prayer and singing and sharing thoughts together.
- Our Spiritual Health Team and network offer care that we may need either periodically or on a regular basis. Our team includes the Pastors, our Congregational Nurse, and some of our members who are knowledgeable in the social services of our area. We want to encourage our members and friends to "become" as healthy and whole as possible.
- Periodically, we offer classes and retreats to explore growing spiritually, sharing our stories and experiences, and reflecting on scripture and our lives with God.
- We host a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous group, Fridays at 8 p.m.
- The orientations listed in our other aspects of Sacred Space : A Place to Believe, A Place to Belong, and a Place to Bear Fruit, all have potential to help us stretch our boundaries, learn something new from one another, our experiences, and God, plus reflect on and try new avenues that will help us to grow as individuals and as a community.
